The girls golf hosted their first tournament on Monday at The Village Golf Course in Panorama and dominated the competition. They got together and worked hard to promote greater scores and a Willis High School win.

For many members of the team, the tournament taught them lessons for the future.

¨It was very nerve racking for me because of how stressful golf can be at times, but overall it got better and better. I’m so happy I got to spend time with my closest friends doing something we love,¨ sophomore Jaistyn Risseuw said.

Not only did the Willis girls grow in their abilities, they also got to size up the competition and know what to work on for the next tournaments.

¨The tournament was overall very fun and an amazing experience,¨ junior Madi McCollum said. ¨We got to continue to work on our drives and putts but also got to see our competition.¨

Even though the Willis girls were striving for victory, they still were able to have fun and embrace the experience.

¨It does not matter if you are a beginner or a professional, golf is a fun game everyone can enjoy,¨ junior Faith Williamson said.

Taking home the top place team made many of the girls squeal with excitement. They earned not only the title of first but also a confidence boost.

¨You could see my smile through the building after hearing my team won first place especially after a long day battling the course,¨ senior McCall Ashton said. ¨I am so proud of everyone for coming out and embracing a game we all love.¨
