Free Guy (2021) PG-13
Known for such action rolls as Dead Pool and Green Lantern, Ryan Reynolds is not a stranger to blockbusters. Many of the roles played by Ryan Reynolds have spawned video games in their image. “Free Guy” looks at the video game world in a new light. What happens to those characters when they are no longer needed by the superheroes and villains? There place in the world is not as certain when they do not need to be rescued.
In “Free Guy” Ryan Reynolds is Guy, a bank teller NPC (non-player character) inside a video game that gains a mind of his own. Guy falls in love with Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer) and wants to create a life of his own. Guy decides to become the hero of his own story and create his own path throughout life alongside Molotov Girl and his best friend Buddy (Lil Rel Howery). However, an evil man named Antwan (Taika Waititi) is planning to destroy the game with everyone and everything inside, to cover up his crime and delete it forever.
However, a man named Keys (Joe Keery) teams up with Guy and Molotov Girl to save the game and bring their original world back to life. Working together, Guy tries to save the game but there are so many problems occur involving Molotov Girl and Keys involving Antwan and their design. All of the NPCs, alongside Guy try to creating a perfect life to live.
The message that this movie sends to people is that everyone should be self-aware and realize that they should get to make their own life choices. “Free Guy” overall was a wonderful comedy and action film that spread laughter, joy and taught people the lesson of free will and being the person they want to be.
