I CAN BUY MYSELF FLOWERS. A new stronger Miley is back with her new album. The first song “Flowers” broke the record for the most streams in one week.

“We were good, we were gold,

kinda dream that can’t be sold.

We were good right ‘til we weren’t,

built a home and watched it burn.”

The name “Miley Cyrus” is scattered across countless social media sites discussing her latest single titled “Flowers.” The song was released on her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth’s, birthday and is rumored to be a jab at his miscellaneous misdeeds during their relationship. Some people will say that the song was meant to be a play on the ballad Hemsworth dedicated to Miley at their wedding or that the dress she wore was meant to mimic that of one of his alleged mistresses. Not only that, but  “Flowers” also broke the record for most streams in a single week on Spotify. This song is littered with lore and the source of several scandalous tales, but how many of them are true?

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have had an on-again-off-again relationship since they met in 2009 with their final split occurring a decade later. There are reports of Hemsworth dedicating the Bruno Mars song “When I Was Your Man” to Miley on their engagement and at their wedding, but neither of these claims has been confirmed by the couple. While many believe that their marriage crumbled under the weight of their infidelities, it was never stated or implied by Cyrus that their divorce was due to cheating. Despite this, allegations continue to circulate with one source on Twitter claiming Hemsworth had affairs with more than 14 women throughout their marriage. All of the rumors and allegations that make Flowers so intriguing can be debunked with a bit of research, but at least it helps Miley’s sales.

While some of the drama surrounding the song may not be real, the feelings it invokes definitely are. Keep in mind, this is just a snippet of what Miley has lined up for 2023, with an album hitting the scene on March 10. This song is catchy and energetic, giving the listener a sense of newfound independence, and serves as the perfect transition from her last album Plastic Hearts. If you have three minutes and twenty-two seconds to spare, blast flowers and mark your calendar for Miley’s newest album, Endless Summer Vacation.
