Puss In Boots claws his way back to top
Everyone knows the original 2011 movie Puss in Boots, which tells the tale of the infamous warrior cat who looks death in the face and laughs. Well, on December 21, 2022, after 11 years Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was released and it’s safe to say it was one of the cutest animated films of 2022. The aesthetically pleasing graphics, unforgettable characters, and the cute storyline took the movie from good to great.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish tells the story of everyone’s favorite sword-wielding kitty who originally debuted in the Shrek 2 movie. Things take a turn for Puss in Boots when he comes to the realization that after many long adventures, he is on his last life. He seeks out the map to the mythical last wish in an attempt to get his 9 lives back so he can continue on his adventures, but things like friendship, love and death get in the way. Everything works out in the end for Puss, and one thing he definitely came out with at the end was trust and friendship.
Despite over a decade passing since the first Puss in Boots movie, Antonio Bandera, who plays Puss, still was able to pull on the boots and become his character. The director, Joel Crawford, knew exactly what to do in order to keep the story alive, and with these two working on this movie together it was a success. As of February 20, 2023 the movie grossed $167.8 million in the United States and Canada, and $257.1 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $424.9 million.
