“Five Nights at Freddy’s” was first introduced via video game Aug. 8, 2014. The first mention about having a script for a movie was in April of 2015 by Warner Bros. In March of 2017 word got out that production companies have switched to Blumhouse, a production company known for horror. In Aug. 2018 Scott Cawthon revealed that the first draft of the script was written with a co-author of the novel trilogy. The much awaited movie hit theaters Oct. 27 and is also available to stream on Peacock.
The movie features Mike (Joshua Hutcherson) as a troubled brother in need of a job because he is the caretaker of his sister Abby (Piper Rubio). He receives an offer at Freddy’s Fazbear’s Pizzeria from Steve Raglan (Matthew Lillard.) After a couple nights of being the security guard, he runs into complications and realizes that the job is not as easy as it sounds. Fans of the video game will recognize many of the characters including the large animatronic characters of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy.
As a novice to the FNAF world, I personally really liked the movie. I liked that I was able to watch the movie without having any background knowledge of the lore and be able to understand it. I loved the story line based outside of the pizzeria. The sibling bond was so compelling and made me want to watch more. Now that I have seen the movie, I want to learn more about FNAF. I’m definitely going to be watching future movies.
