The fashion design students are working hard in their classes learning new techniques in order to create new colorful and fashionable school spirit wear. If you’re searching for some stylish Willis spirit wear made by the Wildkats themselves, look no further than our own fashion design class’s new fashion store: Kat Kouture.
The fashion design students are opening a school-based fashion enterprise here on campus called ‘Kat Kouture.’ They are offering a selection of shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and other Willis spirit wear that they create themselves. When you order a shirt, you are free to pick your own design and color combinations.
“We started Kat Kouture to create a good opportunity to get experience with socializing with people and running a business,” senior Jessie Gonzales said.
Buying a shirt from this store would benefit not just the fashion design class, but our school as a whole. When you purchase a shirt, you show support for both the fashion design students that created them and the Willis Wildkats overall.
“People should definitely buy shirts from us to represent the school and extracurricular activities,” senior Leslie Sewornu said. “The clothes are made by people here on campus too.”
This new project is doing more than just selling merchandise and helping our school. It has actually been very beneficial to the students participating in it by teaching them new skills and helping them improve on others.
“We’re learning and building on all sorts of skills like sewing, organizing, leadership, customer service, teamwork, and socializing,” junior Alexandra Jimenez said.
Despite this store being something new, the fashion design students have picked up on it really quickly and are prepared for success with Kat Kouture.
“The kids are really doing wonderful with this new program brought into the fashion design class,” fashion design teacher Darlene Parsons said. “They’ve been on board with something they’ve never done before, and they’re perfecting their work skills that could later benefit them in college or in their future careers.”
