Cars of all shapes, size and color surround you as you walk through the automotive program’s first car show. You hear children laughing as they compete in hot wheels races, and the smell of concessions welcomes you.
On Saturday, Dec. 2, Wildkat Automotive will host their 1st Annual Car & Bike Show and Toy Drive in the WHS CTE building. The registration fee to get in is $25 or an unwrapped toy. All proceeds from this event will go to the Toys for Tots organization.
“We started this program so that we could get the community involved in our automotive program,” auto mechanics teacher Allan Hammond said. “It lets us connect people who also have a love of cars, and shows students what they can accomplish if they work at it.”
This car show will draw people from many different crowds. Car enthusiasts, families looking for a fun outing, and children excited to meet Santa Claus all have a place at this event.
“This event will provide a space for people with a passion for cars to share their stories and knowledge,” Hammond said. “It also will give our students the opportunity to meet and greet with local businesses for jobs.”
Although the main attraction is the car and bike show, this event also features hot wheels racing, an appearance from Santa Claus himself, and there will be lots of good food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.
“At this event, there will be activities for kids like hot wheel racing and a meet and greet with Santa,” Hammond said. “People will be able to share their stories on their builds and just their overall passion for cars.”
By going to this event, you are not only showing your support for the Wildkat automotive program, but also giving to a good cause. All proceeds from this event will go to the Toys for Tots organization; an organization started by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that donates toys to children whose parents are unable to afford them.
“People should definitely come out and enjoy the car show,” Hammond said. “It’s a great opportunity to support Toys for Tots and our Willis automotive program.”
