On the wall just outside of the cafeteria, a tree full of kind messages is just waiting to be added to and its leaves spread through the school.
For the month of February, Kats Joined for Hope made a kindness tree full of Post-it notes with kind words. The purpose of the tree is so that students may take a note or leave a note on the tree to spread kindness around campus.
“I knew that Valentine’s Day was around the corner and Kats Joined for Hope was made to spread kindness, so I just leaned into that spirit of love and spreading joy,” KJ4H president Stone Chapman said. “Through my intentions of spreading kindness and inspiration from other Joined for Hope clubs, the kindness tree was born.”
Several members of the club joined together to make the tree and write kind notes.
“It felt really good to write kind notes for the tree,” KJ4H member Evelyn Companik said. “I tried to write things that some students probably needed to hear, and I hope that the notes can brighten someone’s day.”
One of the major parts of the Kats Joined for Hope Club is the projects that they use to build a larger community centered around being kind to others.
“The projects are my favorite part of being in the club,” KJ4H member Maribel Muniz said. “ I love that the club gives us the chance to make a positive change in our community and even the mentality of the school.”
