ON THE BOARD. The team celebrates with senior Jaden Menjivar after he scores the first run against Klein Oak in game one of the series. The Kat wons won both games 4-0 in the area championship series.

The Wildkats have done it again. They baseball team will play Friday against Tomball at Waller High School.

Going into a new game isn’t always the same for everyone. But for the Wildkats it is.

“We’re not gonna change anything,” senior Maddox Keo said. “Why change something that’s not gonna work?”

The mentality of the Wildkats is one thing and one thing only.

“Beat Tomball,” sophomore Dylan Hawthorne said.

The players just plan to keep their goal simple.

“Win,” Keo said.

The team has prepared for the battle ahead. The players know the job that is before them.

“To me my job is to start it up out of the gate, to give us the confidence that will allow us to flood Tomball,” junior Kelly Abke said

For these Wildkats, they have to have a want, drive and dedication to continuing the sport.

“Baseball is my life,” Abke said. “Everything about it, the playoff atmosphere is something I’ve been chasing from the start. This game is more than what people see. It is what people don’t see. It’s about the constant work and dedication that is put in off the field. It is about the brotherhood and commitment to one another that builds the bond we have together today.”

Being successful is not easy. But once the team reaches that success, it is ten times harder to keep that success. The  Wildkats will find a way.

“It has started with the ‘prove them wrong’ mindset, we go into the game knowing anything can happen and we will do whatever it takes to come out on top,” Abke said. “We play to win and will risk it all for each other. We play with our hearts on fire and only we can stop that.”

This series ahead is the Regional Quarterfinals vs the #2 team in the state. It is the first time Willis Baseball has made it this far since 2011. The Wildkats match up very well against Tomball this round.

The series was just moved to a neutral site due to the weather forecast for Thursday and possibly Friday.

Game 2: Saturday 5/18 12:00PM @ Waller High School vs Tomball
