Ready. Position. And Go.
Those are the words that were said to all of the students that participated in the jazz and colorguard concert. These students have been practicing for a long time to give the community their best.
“It took us about two-and-one-half-ish months to prepare for the jazz concert. We had a competition for the Sam Houston Jazz Festival so that pushed us harder in rehearsals each day,” sophomore Dulce Silverio said.
The band and colorguard participants are very thankful that their community was able to come out and support all of them.
“Thank you! Our program is so appreciative of the support from our families and community members,” band director Joseph Dittfurth said.
All of the students are super excited for next year’s show. They will be preparing to show the community their skills again.
“What I am most excited about next year is for us to push ourselves to the limit not just as one person, but as a team so that we can perform to the best of our abilities,” sophomore Mia McGowen said.
Many colorguard students are excited for what there is to come next year, and the opportunities for them are endless.
“I’m most excited for next year’s color guard season is to make a new show and hopefully learn new tricks and tosses and find out the theme of our new show,” junior Hanna Cano said.
All in all, the students have been working hard for a while so that they can be their best at what they love the most.
“Our jazz kats started preparing for the spring festival and showcase music in January. We read through a lot of different charts while working to build fundamental jazz skills, but when it came to the showcase we picked the top three charts that we’d been working on that we thought the audience would enjoy and that the students liked the best,” Dittfurth said.
