A NIGHT IN NEVERLAND. The dance floor is full at prom held at The Woodlands Resort.

A day filled with makeup, big hair, photoshoots, dancing and music. A night many seniors look forward to and the memory that is a huge part of the high school experience.

Prom was held on May, 4th at the Woodlands Resort in The Woodlands, Texas. Many students joined their classmates for a night in Neverland to never forget.

Some students say they prepared in anticipation of prom weeks before in search of essentials and their formal wear. Many students also put their skills to use by doing their own makeup and hair rather than hiring someone.

“Weeks before, I went to try on dresses, and my date and I went to buy prom essentials. I did my own hair and makeup and we bought corsages from the store,” senior Ana Calderon said.

Many students believe their favorite memory was dancing to their favorite songs with their friends at prom.

“I enjoyed prom, but my favorite memory was when they played ‘Suavemente,’ one of my favorite Spanish songs, and my friend, the Prom King, Tito asked me to dance merengue with him,” senior Trenton Lightfoot said.

The prom king also says he enjoyed being with friends the most and that he was surprised to have won Prom King as he saw prom as a night for fun filled memories.

“My favorite highlight from prom was taking a group photo with my friends and dancing with them,” senior Juan Pablo Garcia said. “My initial reaction to winning Prom King was shock, I really wasn’t expecting to win I was just there for more fun so when they called my name I kinda didn’t know what to do,” Garcia said.

With prom starting at 8 p.m., students say they were able to make memories and have fun taking part in the prom traditions outside of the dance.

“I enjoyed the time before prom more than the actual event. I asked my date to prom with a sign and I took her out to eat. We both enjoyed our time there,” senior Mathew Pinkard said.

Many seniors say they enjoyed the whole prom experience, including the tradition of going to a restaurant and enjoying time with their dates or groups. Students also say prom will be a long-lasting memory.

“I overall really enjoyed the day of prom and getting ready was fun. We went out for brunch as a group then we headed to the resort and after the dance, we went to Waffle House and even the car rides with my group were fun. I think the experience was what I expected, and I will remember it for years to come,” Calderon said.
