As the sun peeked over the trees, the seniors soaked in the first group event of the year. It was hot and sticky due to the heat and humidity that comes with August in Texas, but the moments together made the weather conditions bearable. Plus the breakfast tacos and Capri Suns were a delicious way to end the event and start the day.
Last Friday, the senior class of 2025 gathered on the field to watch the sunrise together and bring in the new school year. Senior Sunrise is a tradition at many schools, its purpose is for all the seniors to start their final year of high school together.
This event is very important to many seniors because it is recognized as the pivotal moment that begins the last year of high school.
“It’s the only time in your life that you get to experience this, and senior sunrise is a moment that makes you take it all in,” senior Prema Dabi said.
One of the most important parts of senior year to many people is the memories they get to make with friends before embarking on their new journeys.
“My favorite memory from Senior Sunrise was when Tucker, Vanden and Erick all took a picture together, it was a really funny moment,” senior Zizel Brava said.
There are several events throughout the year geared towards seniors with the intention of each class getting to end their public school career on a high note. There are even a few new editions this year.
“I heard that we have a Winter Formal this year which is new, so I’m pretty excited for that,” senior Odalys Garay said.
The senior class of 2025 almost unanimously agrees that this year’s Senior Sunrise was a beautiful moment.
“I think Senior Sunrise was a success, but if I could change something about it, I would’ve wanted the music to be louder,” senior Tucker Bond said.
The senior class has Class of 2025 Sponsor Kelly Hardin to thank for a great start to their final year together.
“The planning was a breeze because it’s all about creating a space for seniors to come together and celebrate the start of their final year in high school,” Hardin said. “I really hope everyone who showed up left with some unforgettable memories and maybe a cool shirt.”
