Loving something should not result in being injured, killed or even threatened.
Taylor Swift fans or ‘Swifties’, do not have the luxury. Swift’s Vienna shows were canceled due to terrorist threats. Three young girls were killed during a Swift-themed dance and yoga class and ten people were injured in Southport, England. Innocent lives were stolen by a coward with a knife and attacked unarmed children.
Two people were arrested in the alleged terrorist plots for the Vienna shows and the 19-year-old suspect pledged his allegiance to ISIS, a Salafi-jihadist group that has inspired terrorist attacks that have resulted in thousands injured or killed. Officials stated that the 19-year-old had bought chemicals but not all of the components needed to assemble a bomb and that he would likely not have been able to before the concerts. Austrian law enforcement did not want to take any chance that the pair would try to conduct an attack differently, and they took them into custody. Terrorists planning on murdering based on simple, horrible hate.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and also attempted murder for the Southport stabbing. Three children were killed and nine others were injured, five of the wounded children were in critical condition, along with two adults who were also stabbed. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances and the attack is currently not being looked at as terror-related.
Trying to injure those who are just supporting an artist they love is cowardice, attacking young children who are unable to defend themselves is even worse. Concert-goers shouldn’t have to worry about their safety when attending a concert, especially at a concert of the biggest artists in the world.
People should do what they love. Society can’t let fear control what they do with their life. That is how the people evoking fear win.
