Homecoming week is one of the biggest weeks at school. It is filled with all kinds of long lasting traditions from dress up days to the parade and dance. The atmosphere is fun and festive for the whole week and students can’t wait to participate in the homecoming activities again this year.
As students start to prepare for homecoming week, getting everything ready for the week is half of the battle. Getting everything done ahead of time helps students to soak in all the memories surrounding homecoming.
“I’m really excited to be making plans with friends,” junior Maria Spencer said. “It’s been fun to get my outfit and hair ideas together and just plan out my week to get prepared for homecoming.”
Homecoming week is right around the corner, this means that students get to dress up all week and show off how crazy their outfits can get with the themes.
“Getting to see everyone dress up and dressing up myself,” junior Magdelyn Boone said. “It is one of the best parts of homecoming week.”
Traditions surround homecoming every year while some are newer and some are older, one tradition that has always stood is homecoming court.
“The ability for everyone to enter the hoco dutchess and queen competition is my favorite tradition,” sophomore Jenna Prim said. “It is very inclusive for everyone to have the opportunity to run and not just the seniors.”
Homecoming week is filled with all kinds of festivities and events, it’s hard to just choose one out of the many.
“My favorite event for homecoming week is either the homecoming parade or the football game,” sophomore Violet Hayter said. “You get to dress up, go with your friends and have fun.”
After a full week of homecoming activities and excitement, the dance at the end of the week is what most students look forward to and can’t wait to go, even if it is a little nerve-wracking.
“I’m not gonna lie, I’m scared to go to the homecoming dance,” junior Addison Mack said. “I’m not sure what to expect, but if I do decide to go I know it will be a fun way to make fun memories with my friends and make the best of my junior year.”
