The annual Short N’ Sweet choir concert is right around the corner here at the school. The choir students and directors have been working hard to be perfectly on pitch and sweet sounding for their concert this thursday night.
Not sure what to do this thursday night, come out and support the Wildkat Choir as they kick off the year with a bang.
“The concert is on thursday September 19th at 7pm,” assistant choir director Brandon Ramos said. “I know it is at the same time as the varsity football game so we might lose some people, but if you can show up at the Willis High School cafeteria and come watch.”
The concert has been around at the school for many years and every year the concert gets a little bit sweeter, truly living up to it’s name.
“It is called the Short N’ Sweet concert because it’s a nice short little concert that we get to do at the beginning of the year,” sophomore Owen Griffin said. “It is sweet to hear, sweet to enjoy, and we also gets sweets at the end of the concert.”
The annual concert showcases these talented students and how hard they’ve been working, it is a great way to start the upcoming year.
“It is a great way to show what we’ve learned so far,” junior Sophia Marin said. “It is also a great way to showcase the leadership we get from Ms.Jimenez and Mr.Ramos.”
Having the right song to perform is imperative, each choir class is perfecting their chosen song to ensure a great show.
“The song we are singing is Simple Gifts,” freshmen Madi Bradfute said. “It showcases how good we are to be able to split and come back together but still sound like one choir.”
Everyone in attendance of the show can be ready for sweet treats, fun songs and a great time supporting the choir.
“We’re going to be doing an excerpt from each song, some of these songs will be back at our veterans concert,” head choir director Chelsea Jimenez said. “People can also expect to see a demonstration of what we do in our classroom and eat some sweet treats at the end.”
