The lights are low. The drums are welcoming the students into the gym. Bright colored shirts glow in the blacklights as the final pep rally of the season starts.
There is a glow pep rally on Friday to get students and football players excited for the evening game against Oak Ridge.
Pep rallies allow students to enjoy performances with their friends.
“The best part of going to a pep rally is getting to hang out with people and seeing the band,” sophomore Kaylee Hogue said.
A sense of togetherness can be felt by students during pep rallies.
“My favorite part of pep rally is when we all get together to do the school song at the end,” senior Ashley Beltran said.
Getting students to get involved with their school is one of a pep rally’s main goals.
“We have pep rallies to show school spirit and they get students involved in sports,” junior Desaray Wilkerson said.
There is plenty of preparation for pep rallies in hopes of a sense of motivation and entertainment.
“I like being a part of pep rallies because they’re something special,” junior Courtney Pelton said. “I like seeing students get excited. As a cheerleader, performing with my friends and participating in pep rallies are some of my favorite things to do for home games.”
The glow pep rally should spark interest for lots of students.
“For this pep rally, I feel like students will dress out more and get more excited compared to regular pep rallies,” junior Trentyn Braun said.
