The cheerleaders travelled to Rosenberg to attend the UCA Houston Regional a cheer competition in November 3. The team placed first in the Large Varsity Finals division. The also competed in the Game Day Routine.
Some cheerleaders are on both competition teams, making adjusting to their busy schedules hard.
“Being on both competition squads is difficult,” sophomore Lauren Stafford said. “Balancing all of the practices, school, and my gymnastics, all while trying to remember all materials is challenging.”
Having the relief of putting all of your hard work out onto the mat is a great feeling.
“I enjoyed eating and getting to chill out after we performed,” junior Ali Puls said.
The close bond of the team helped them finish on top.
“This year’s competition was a lot better than previous years because of how closely knitted the team is,” junior Kyndall Schiffner said.
Lots of cheerleaders enjoy seeing what other schools bring to the table.
“This competition was really fun,” freshman Lilly Clark said. “I liked being able to compete and see other team’s routines that they worked so hard on.”
For the seniors, this competition season may be their last. As it is getting closer to the end of the first semester, seniors want soak up their last moments of high school.
“As a team, we did so good,” senior Triniti McPheron said. “We showed our confidence, and I am proud that we could start our season right. It felt amazing, and I am going to miss it.”
