Harmony.
The choir members stand on stage, looking out at the audience as everyone’s voices blend in harmony to make the most beautiful noise. Each note soars through the room as the high school and elementary schools choir captures a rich moment. The smiles captivated on everyone’s faces is a sight to see as this is an amazing opportunity for all choir members.
Before the choir performance, the high school choir got up early and came to help set up everything to make the elementary performance perfect.
“The process of setting up for the performance was pretty standard for our high school performances,” junior Raeleigh Wolver said. “We set up the shell, behind the risers to help the sound travel, and the risers, what we stand on as we sing. Also, we set up the lobby with assigned tables in which each elementary school’s directors and the students check in and out.”
Although the elementary students had their chance to shine alone, the high students were able to add on to the harmonies and had memories of their own.
“My favorite part of the performance was singing on stage with the elementary kids,” senior Jessica Konikowski said. “It is cool to see the upcoming choir kids and that music is so impactful even at a young age. It was fun to see the shock on their faces when we all joined together to sing.”
The overall environment in the PAC was astronomical as this event is a core memory for all choir members.
“I feel that as the mixed varsity members we have a chance to inspire these kids to pursue choir as one of their favorite electives,” junior Jhun Abarquez said. “Getting into the same positions as we are now in the future.”
To be granted this opportunity to sing with the little kids was such a unique experience for all, as most hope that the elementary students grow up and take what they learned to a greater level.
“I think this opportunity is amazing for both the elementary and the high school choir members,” Wolver said. “After all, the elementary students are the future of the choir program and these kids will eventually take over our place in the Willis High school choir. This also benefits the high schoolers cause it gives them a sense of responsibility with these kids.”
