The weather is getting colder, nipping at everyone’s fingers and noses. Stores have officially switched their soundtracks from What’s Hot to the best Christmas carols. Festive lights of red and green light each corner and house in sight, the insides filled with joy and spirit. With December right around the corner, it is time to begin feeling and getting into the Christmas spirit.
The Christmas spirit is something that brings friends and family together. It fosters moments of happiness and fun between people, allowing people to come together and celebrate. It is a time when people of all generations come together to celebrate as a family.
“The Christmas spirit brings out the best in people,” Health Science teacher Rebecca McHenry said. “I love making new memories with my family and creating new traditions”
Everybody has a tradition that makes the holiday season special, from making elaborate dinners to simply getting together. People find different ways to enjoy the holidays, tailored specially for them and their families.
“Me and my family always make a cake,” junior Aeisha Eledia said. “I know many people make cookies or do something more festive but I really really like making a cake with my family. I love my family so I enjoy being with them.”
Along with the many different traditions people have, everyone has different things that put them in the Christmas spirit. For some people, it is insanely obnoxious music, for others, it is calmly decorating a tree and sipping hot chocolate by a fireplace.
“I love listening to music starting from the beginning of November,” junior Sarah Gurrea said. “It is just so festive and nice to listen to all the time, there’s just something about it that is so nice. I can’t tell if it is the beats or just the meaning.”
