Through hard work and determination, some student-athletes could participate in signing their letters of intent.
Some athletes are ready to level up to the college experience of their sport.
“I am excited to graduate and experience the college level of football,” senior Kelan Harris said. “My football journey has got me to where I am now.”
Playing a college sport allows athletes to create irreplaceable bonds with new team members.
“I am most excited for the bond I get to create with a new group of guys,” senior Kelley Abke said. “I am also excited for a new home and place where I feel I belong. Without faith in myself, I would have never achieved my goals. My family, coaches, and teammates’ faith in me always built my confidence to play the game passionately.”
The strive for the college athlete dream has started from a young age for many students.
“I am excited and blessed to play division one softball,” senior Sydney Prihoda said. “I have always wanted to play at Sam Houston, and my dad played baseball there. It has always felt right since I started at a young age going to camps there and games.”
Athletes search for a place to play their sport and to call home.
“I am going to Lamar State because when I visited, it felt like I could build a home and life there,” senior Audrie Call said. “I cannot wait to play at the next level, and I am ready to work.”
The bonds a sport can create will last a lifetime for most athletes.
“I am very excited to continue my academic and baseball career at Ford Scott,” senior Zadin Cannon said. “I am excited for the opportunity that Kelley and I will get to experience together because we will push each other to be the best athletes we can be.”
Leaving home can be a nervous, but also exciting feeling.
“I am just excited to start my new journey,” senior Jayden Manning said. “I am going to have to restart with new people 10 hours away, and I am a little nervous, but I am excited to get out there and work.”
