Juggling school and athletics is tough. Through in an after school job at a fast food place or retail store seems somewhat impossible.
From this problem, Bubble Boats was born. Bubble Boats is a business created by students and one of their mothers, Heather Heintschel. They created this business because the boys wanted a job, but also had a school life with extracurricular activities at the same time. They decided to combine them and make a job at their own pace.
“Bubble Boats was born out of a shared experience between four best friends of cleaning their own boats and cars,” mother of junior Kyle Heintschel, Heather Heintschel said. “After realizing the time-consuming nature of this task, we decided to outsource it. At the same time, our son, a high school junior with a packed extracurricular schedule, was eager to find a part-time job but struggled to find flexible hours. It was during a dinner conversation that we realized these two goals could be perfectly aligned.”
A lot of people wonder though, how does a high school student manage all of their school work and sports, along with owning their own business that has needs of its own.
“To keep a steady schedule with school, sports, and my business, I make a weekly planner that shows when I’ll do each activity,” Kyle said. “I set clear goals for my schoolwork and business tasks to stay focused during those times. I also check my schedule often and make changes if needed, so I can manage everything well.”
A great lesson for these boys is also learning the path of entrepreneurship. The Bubble Boats boys seem to really be picking it up. While owning and working for a business may be stressful at times, it can come with great benefit to be working alongside your friends as you go through work times.
“I find the path of my entrepreneurship leading me to great success by teaching me how to take care of other people’s stuff, learning salesmen skills, and learning what hard work and dedication really means,” sophomore Tanner Lucius said. “Something that makes me really enjoy my job is that I work with my friends, people who I can trust will do something right the first time. I don’t have to correct their mistakes. Bubble Boats has truly changed my life and has taught me so much.”
Heather Heintschel and her boys have done an amazing job in finding a great idea that can also benefit people all around the area and county. These boys are nothing but hard workers and have great goals for their future.
Today, Bubble Boats proudly provides mobile detailing services to Montgomery County, exclusively hiring high school students.
“As a token of our appreciation for their hard work, we donate a portion of our proceeds to the organizations they are involved with,” Heather said. “Our name, Bubble Boats, started as a playful joke among our kids, aged 8 to 17. It has since become an integral part of our brand identity. It’s catchy, lighthearted and reflects our humble beginnings—washing boats over and over again.”
