Dozens of students rolled up their sleeves to donate blood on Monday, March 30th, showcasing compassion, bravery and a commitment to helping others. The event was a success, with participants contributing to a lifesaving cause that will benefit hospitals and patients in need.
“I wanted to donate blood today because I know it will help people out,” senior Noe Lopez said. “I wanted to give back to the HOSA community because they also gave me food.”
Blood donations are critical for emergency surgeries, cancer treatments and trauma care, yet shortages are common. HOSA’s initiative helped address this need, reinforcing the impact young people can have on public health.
“I would like to help kids with cancer if I can,” senior Daisy Alanis said. “That is the reason why I am here to donate my blood.”
Many first-time donors overcame their nerves to participate, proving that even small acts of kindness can make a huge difference.
“It was my first time giving blood, but I know it can save the lives of people with diseases and medical problems,” junior Jacob Pittman said. “That is the generous and right thing to do.”
HOSA advisors and volunteers cheered on participants, creating an encouraging atmosphere. The school’s partnership with a local blood center ensured a smooth and professional process, with medical staff guiding students every step of the way.
“With a single bag of blood, it can save three people,” senior Jared Madrid-Williams said. “Isn’t that awesome sauce how cool and amazing that is for our community.”
