As homecoming week approaches, students are eagerly preparing for the festivities, diving into classic traditions and new ways to show their school spirit. For many seniors, this means focusing on iconic symbols like the mum, senior jeans and football. The homecoming game is Oct. 3, but hoco week starts on Monday with the first dress up day.
“I’m preparing for homecoming week by going to the mum store to get supplies for my mum, and I’m finally finishing my senior jeans,” senior Ashley Briones said. “I am spending Friday night on the sidelines taking pictures for yearbook, so I know I will have a great homecoming.”
While some are finishing their outfits, others are busy creating their spirit wear for the week. There are so many things to get ready before the week of school spirit. Mums, overalls, a dress for the dance and five days worth of dress up.
“I looked all over Pinterest for dress inspo, and my boyfriend ordered my mum for me,” senior Kyndall Schniffer said. “Hopefully the game is good against College Park, and I cannot wait to cheer.”
Alongside the excitement for clothing and the game, many students are most looking forward to the homecoming parade.
“I am the most excited for the homecoming parade since there are so many floats to be a part of, or take photos of this year,” senior Victoria Medina said. “I took photos last year, which was so much fun as I saw all my friends and took the cutest photos, but nothing beats being a part of that crowd.”
From mums and jeans to floats and cheers, homecoming week is shaping up to be a memorable celebration that brings the school community together as students prepare and traditions come alive and show spirit for the football game.
“Me and my girlfriend are probably going to take pictures before the game,” junior Darin Diggs said. “Then get ready see the Wildkats win.”
