The circle of students congregate on the front patio of the CTE building as the sun creeps up the sky. The sounds of prayer and worship music can be heard as students begin to share
See You at the Pole is scheduled for Wednesday at the CTE flag pole.
“Anyone and everyone should come to See You at the Pole,” FCA worship leader and social media manager Maddie Mae Bratton said. “We want believers and nonbelievers. We want everyone to come. Students, parents and teachers all come to the event. It starts at 6:20 at the CTE flagpole, but come when you can.”
The event is a national event promoting faith in high schools. It started in 1990 when a group of 10 students met at their high school to pray before school in Burleson, Texas. This year millions of students across the world will gather at schools before the first bell rings for school.
“I think SYATP is important because it is an opportunity for fellowship,” senior Eliseo Cantarero said. “Fellowship brings Christians closer together and it is an opportunity for people to know Jesus. People have been saved through worship and it’s also a time to worship our heavenly father Jesus Christ.”
The event is for anyone who wants to attend. Event organizers want every Wildkat to be there.
“It will be worship like singing and playing the guitar, a small lesson and hands laying hands with prayer for those who want it,” Bratton said. “There will also be free breakfast for all who attend.
FCA is hosting the event. The club is run by students and students will be leading the worship on Wednesday.
“It is a time of fellowship,” junior Carter Smith said. “There will be worship and free breakfast. I will be leading the event and leading prayer.”
After the main worship service, the crowd will create small prayer circles. This will be led by a FCA member.
“I will probably be a prayer leader,” senior Hudson Adams said. “After the set worship time, I will lead a prayer circle.”
For every student, the event means different things. They all agree Wednesday morning will be powerful and meaningful.
“See You at the Pole is important because it brings fellowship between athletes and students,” senior Carter Williams said. “It brings the community closer to God because students can learn about God and their faith. I will be praying over everything: my own stuff, friends and my community.”
This prayer rally is an annual event for FCA, and members are encouraged by the opportunity to share their faith with the community.
“People should attend See You at the Pole so they can come to a positive environment,” junior Brock Clark said. “Hopefully they can find Jesus themselves.”
