The floor of the gym at CC Hardy was filled with vibrant colors as the music filled the space. There were dancers of all ages in beautiful Mexican traditional dresses. A community came together to celebrate and see traditional dances from the hispanic heritage.
The Spanish Honor Society joined the students, parents and staff members of the school at their Hispanic Heritage Night on Sept. 18, 2025.
“I would like to think that the NHS spanish club helps with the hispanic heritage month by our club representing the hispanic community,” senior Alejandra D vicente said. “Hispanic culture needs more recognition.”
Spanish NHS is a club that feels like home to its members. It is a place students can get close with their friends, culture and traditions.
“I think the Spanish Honor Society is important because I want to be part of my culture, ” junior Marycarmen Contreras-Elias said. “Also, because I want to know more about my traditions.”
The Spanish club represents the culture of people who need recognition. The events help be more involved in the hispanic community.
“I think the Spanish NHS is a good club because we get to attend events that represent our community,” Contreras said. ”We also get to show what our community is about.”
Joining the honors club can be a great look on a college application and can build up new friendships.
“I joined the Spanish National Honor Society because I wanted to build up my college application,” senior Alejandra D Vicent said. ”I also joined the club because I want to create new friendships and be closer to my community.
The hispanic community is something that people seek out for when they need help.
“I would like to think that the NHS Spanish club helps with Hispanic heritage month by having events on how the Hispanic community is important,” Vicente said. ”It can also show how many people from the Hispanic community are involved and how they are willing to help out.”
