Blockbusters like “The Hunger Games,” “Squid Games” and “Saw” have publicized the concept of characters risking their life for a big reward. A new dystopian world is created in “The Long Walk,” and once again, people sign up for a big cash prize. “The Long Walk” is based on a novel by Stephen King and directed and produced by Frances Lawrence, director of the Hunger Games series.
“The Long Walk” begins slowly when we meet Garraty (Cooper Hoffman) on his way to start the contest. We met two more characters, Peter McVries (David Jonsson) and Hank Olson (Ben Wang), who all became good friends. The characters form strong bonds that complicate the simplicity of the game. The audience will start to realize that only one will make it out.
So if anyone is looking for a new suspenseful movie, “The Long Walk” is something to check out. This is very unrealistic, but if audiences are looking for a good thriller, this is something to watch when released on streaming platforms. This movie does have its share of violence, gore and blood, so queasy stomachs be aware.
