With the end of the year drawing near, all the final testing days and end of the semester plans are being set in place. This time of year can be stressful for both students and staff, but as each day passes, EOC and final exams are on the minds of most. 

The first testing days will be next week on April 6th and April 8th for the English 1 and 2 EOC exams.  

“It definitely was stressful finding out at the last minute about the testing schedule,” biology teacher Heather Lebow said. “I was still able to move assignments around and change test days to adjust to not having any of my odd classes next week.”

The Algebra 1, biology and US history EOCs will be May 4th-6th and there are no plans to have remote learning on those days. 

“There has not been a final decision made by the district about having remote learning days during those testing days,” principal Stephanie Hodgens said. “We just wanted to let teachers know ahead of time so that they can be prepared.”

Senior grades are due on April 30th at 7 am to determine the walking rank, and the final grades for seniors are due on May 18th at 4 pm. All grades for the spring semester of 2021 will be due on May 24 at 7 am.

“I am so excited that school is almost over,” senior Jill Berger said. “It’s been a wonderful roller coaster these past four years, but I’m excited to leave most of it behind me and start new. The grades kind of stress me out, but it has been like that all year so I’m not too worried about grades being due at the end of April.”

Exemptions are a privilege and teachers will have the final say. Students must meet the requirements to be eligible for exam exemptions. All AP/DC and select CTE classes will always takes finals 

“I think that it is important for AP and DC students to take final exams because it prepares them for college,” DC coordinator and English teacher Christina Henderson said. “If you don’t train and practice for tests like that then students will not be prepared for what awaits them in college.”

The criteria for being eligible for exemption is having an average of 80% of above for the spring semester and no AOC/ISS/OSS. Students must be free of all fees, fines and holds and can’t be at risk of being denied credit due to excessive absences (9 or more per class).

“I think that it’s good to have requirements for getting exempt,” junior Stephanie Keele said. “All the students who don’t show up and do the work do not deserve to get exempt for their final exams like the students who have followed all the rules all semester.”
