THE LEGEND. Now in theatres, the latest Marvel film, Shang-Chi, is going above and beyond both audience and critics expectations.

After a long dry spell of little to no movies in the theatres, a refreshing film has hit the big screen. The new marvel movie, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” is a breathtaking experience that everyone should watch. The MCU may seem like a daunting universe to take on with 25 intertwined movies and four Disney+ series, but viewers don’t need any previous knowledge of the franchise to enjoy the latest film.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” is unlike any other marvel film so far. Past films have tackled the idea of aliens and gods, artificial intelligence, time travel and magical stones that could control the fate of the universe, but this movie dives into something new. From the ancient powers of the Ten Rings to the mythical realm of Ta Lo, the film steps into a new way of storytelling and brings so much more to the universe. The PG 13 film is filled with intense action and fight scenes as well as hilarious comedy scenes. Movie critics on Rotten Tomatoes have rated the movie at 92% ripe and the audience scores it at 99%. In the worldwide box office, the film earned $127.6 million dollars over the weekend and steadily climbing to the top.

This movie is the first in the MCU to have an asian lead and a largely asian cast. Actors like Simu Liu who played Shang-Chi and Awkwafina who played Katy bring to life Asian culture and values, as well as addressing what it’s like to be a minority in American schools. Shang-Chi is also the first fantasy movie in the franchise with new mythical creatures that the audience will love.

When attending the movie, viewers should make sure to stay all the way till the end because there are two end credit scenes that will give a glimpse into what future of the MCU has in store.  It is suspected that the film will be released on Disney+ after being in theatres for 45 days, on October 18. This is a great movie to see with friends and family and a fun way to spend an evening.
