Memories and competing with teammates bring bonding moments.

Willis boys-golf competed in the Moody Gardens scramble and took home third place. After taking home the win, however, these boys aren’t done. Now they are preparing every day to compete in their next tournament later this November.

Incoming freshmen have made their mark and seniors look back on memories from each season. Working hard and coming together to build friendships, strong mindsets, and preparing to compete for their school and team is what this 2022-23 season is about.

Preparing for the next tournament and remembering fond memories is a step through every season, especially during senior year.

“Our next tournament is Nov. 28, 2022,” senior Colin Utecht said. “I plan to take home the first place individual, and our season will end in late March. One of my most fond memories was sophomore year when everyone came together to celebrate Coach Peacock’s 50th birthday. Junior year, a fun memory was going to Denny’s and our team eating a bunch of hot wings at seven in the morning.”

Freshmen coming in and making their mark on the team while they compete and make their first set of memories.

“My team and I did well,” freshman Drake Perry said. “We finished third place out of 28 teams. Our score was nine under 63 total. The most memorable moment from the season so far was making a 55ft chip to birdie a hole at our last tournament. My next tournament is Nov. 28, at Kingwood Country Club.”

Lasting memories from seasons past and creating new ones is key to knowing the teams strengths and having lasting friendships.

“My favorite memory this year has been playing golf everyday with my team and building new friendships,” Utecht said. “A great memory from freshman year would be going to the beach house and going down on the beach at night with the team.”
