WEDNESDAY’S TRIUMPH. The Netflix original series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega is taking the world by storm.

“You must be the self-appointed queen bee. Interesting thing about bees. Pull out their stingers, they drop dead.”

Netflix recently came out with the original series Wednesday, directed by globally famous and extraordinarily talented Tim Burton. The show is based on The Addams Family comics written by Charles Addams and portrays the teenage persona of the well known Wednesday Addams. The role is played by Jenna Ortega, a young actress whose fans say was born for the role. To prepare for Wednesday, Jenna Ortega took lessons for cello, fencing, archery and German. She would also practice her posture and stare in her everyday life so that she could get the role perfect

Instead of the traditional Addams Family gathering usually seen in shows and movies, this series shows how Wednesday fends for herself. The show starts out with Wednesday getting sent to Nevermore, a school for kids that just don’t fit in. She decides that she will try everything in her power to get kicked out, but when things get interesting and suspenseful, Wednesday decides that the school might be exactly what she needs, or perhaps she is exactly what they need. This series gives Wednesday a detective spin that we have yet to see with her character, but also keeps the dark humor and quick, witty dialogue fans love most about Wednesday.

The media has gone feral for this show. People are dressing up as Wednesday in their instagram posts, they are cosplaying as her in their TikTok videos, and the musicians of the media are recreating the iconic cello scene when Wednesday plays her version of “Paint it Black” by the Rolling Stones. All of this publicity for the show has helped it break tons of records. It has reached top 10 of the most watched on Netflix in 88 countries and most hours viewed in a week for an English language series on Netflix, with 341.2 million hours. This series is beyond any doubt one of the better ones that has come out this year and is definitely worth watching.
