Making history.
The term is overused and cliche, but it is what is happening each week as the football team continues their perfect season. Tonight the team will have an opportunity to add another trophy to the case when they face Tomball Memorial at Randall Reed Stadium in New Caney.
Last week’s victory made the Wildkats bi-district champs. It was the first time the school has boasted a 11-0 season.
“It felt really good doing something we have never done before,” junior Daylion Robinson said. “We will continue to work hard in practice and just come out and execute.”
Making it to the second round was always the goal of the team, but making it a reality was special for the team.
“Honestly it was a blessing knowing we were making it to the second round,” sophomore Jermaine Bishop said. “We just have to work hard and continue to compete during practice and keep the good energy.”
In the playoffs, the stakes are high. Each week could be the last of the season. It brings a sense of urgency to the game.
“It is really just a little scary to be honest,” senior Josiah Stephens said. “I know if we dominate like we are supposed to, we are gonna dominate and at the end of the night we will keep going to the state championship.”
So as the points keep adding up and the stats keep breaking records, the team is satisfied with making history.
“It felt pretty good to get the win and make history week by week every game,” junior Jalen Mickens said.
