Tell your story. Everyone is different.
The Willis community continues to grow as do the events occurring yearly. Fields of Faith is an event where students can worship and have an opportunity to share their faith with fellow students and members of the community where many organizations, churches, and many other activities are presented for an afternoon filled with fun. This year’s 3rd annual Fields of Faith will occur on April 22, from 5:00-8:00 pm.
The creation of fields of faith in the Willis environment is a chance to bring together everyone closer to God.
“I would describe Fields of Faith as a student-led rally where all members of the community, no matter their religion, have the opportunity to stand together and share their faith,” Coach Megan Storms said.
From each year to year, students’ love and excitement of this event continues to grow.
“My favorite aspect of FOF from previous years is how the community and churches come together under Christ for 1 main purpose,” junior Audrey Van Straten said. “To serve God, to shower people with the love of Christ, and to show people it’s okay to show that you love God and devote your life to Him.”
The recurrence of Fields of Faith allows for culture throughout the school to rebuild itself from its previous harmful views.
“It offers HOPE to kids and adults, that abundant life is available to all who ask, and that pathway is found in God’s word, the Bible,” teacher Lisa Parrott said. “We are looking for a culture shift in our schools. The culture of our schools has changed in a negative way where kids are distracted by social media and turning inward where they become lonely, angry, and marginalized.”
The community even benefits greatly as well, businesses and churches all come together to unite.
“How I would describe the community as united and open,” Van Straten said. “The community comes together in a multitude of ways from churches, and businesses, to the police department. They come together for a united purpose under God to lead His people back home to their rightful Father.”
Fields of Faith allow for perspectives and stories to be shared. Sharing how others found Christ in their lives, it helps students bring that positive energy into their lives as well.
“I am excited about the worship aspect of FOF because you can feel the heavy presence of the Holy Spirit sitting upon everyone, and my all-time favorite part along with many others is the testimonials,” Van Straten said. “How students come up on a stage and explain what God has done for them and the moment they knew He was their Lord and Savior. I also like how it shows how there isn’t a specific way to tell a testimony or give yourself to Christ because everyone is different.”
