Steps on a stage silence the crowd, lights flash and viewers watch as the kid they have watched silently read a book in class performs a 200-step dance routine without missing a beat.
This is the Mr. Wildkat experience. As the class of 2024 comes together to put on a show to raise money for operation graduation, they continue a tradition that seniors have been honoring for years.
Mr. Wildkat will take place on April 6. in the Performing Arts Center at 6 p.m.
“Mr. Wildkat is a tradition,” coordinator Shannon Keo said. “That allows students to show their school spirit, create something with their fellow classmates, and just have a blast in the last leg of their senior year. Watching this show you will see some of the senior class showcase their adventurous attitude and love for their school.”
Putting on a show every year gives students the chance to make new friends, honor old friendships and pay for events like the senior lock-in.
“Mr. Wildkat is a fundraising event for operations graduation,” senior Addison Lyons said. “Not only is it a fundraiser, it is an exciting opportunity for seniors to show their personality on stage, and make memories with their peers and parents.”
The stage offers a place for students to show their true spirit to their family and friends before they go off to college.
“People should come to see Mr. Wildkat experience the true atmosphere of students having a good time,” senior Mason Bearden said. “My favorite part of participating is having fun with the people I have grown up with at practice and having one final event with each other before we all go our separate ways.”
Mr. Wildkat in one last hoorah for the class of 2024. Students, staff and family can purchase tickets here.
“I chose to help coordinate Mr. Wildkat because I have watched many of the students in the class of 2024 grow up,” Keo said. “Doing this allows me to be involved with something in their lives before they leave the nest and spread their wings out into the world.”
