As the first game and pep rally happen today, there should be no lack of school spirit in the halls or in the gym. School spirit items, school colors or themed-inspired outfits should always be worn and everyone should participate in it. This is the prime time to show school spirit is the start of the year.

School spirit have so many benefits that help our school in many ways. It boosts the confidence for our sports such as football on Friday night lights, at volleyball games or just every day in the halls. The Wildkat community can let the players see that they are supported. When the students all dress up in themes or colors the players feel like they have people behind them that are on their side. Chanting and messing with the opposing team can actually make a difference and throw them off if everyone does their part and participates.

Now, some students might argue that participating or showing school spirit can affect their academic performances because they miss time to participate in activities and games. This can be avoided by getting your work done before you go to games or pep rallies, or even do it after. Most games don’t start until a few hours after school anyways. Students only have so many high school games and school spirit activities in the four years of high school. The time is now to get dressed up according to theme and make a difference.

There are so many more benefits of showing our school spirit. It allows all students to connect in some way of how they want to support our school and everybody can match which allows them to make a connection. This can also lead to another benefit of making our students happy and everyone having a good time. If someone has a bad day, no one can say that showing school spirit and cheering with their fellow friends and classmates on Friday night can’t make them happy.

The  community and school would all be happier if every Wildkat participated and showed school spirit every week.  All students need to all take action and do our best to support the school in every way can while they are here.
