In a classroom filled with eager minds, a beloved math teacher with a passion for numbers is embarking on a new journey of her life. Being known for her outgoing personality and her wisdom far beyond the walls of her classroom.
Only a few people can be a mother, math teacher, college student and a writer all at once. Being able to have the time to do all of this isn’t easy either, but math teacher Jennifer Mitchell makes it all look easy while finding time to dress up for every spirit day and decorating the hall.
“It’s really cool to know that my math teacher isn’t only an educator but also a writer out of school,” junior Natalia Herrera said.
This book took Mitchell about a year to complete and publish so that other students or teachers could use.
“This book is mostly mathematical proofs with images that support and show the proofs. There are also examples of Ceva’s Theorem in art,” Mitchell said.
This book was a partial requirement for Mitchell to get her masters in mathematics.
“One of my favorite classes to teach is trigonometry, and I chose Ceva’s Theorem because it is applicable in its two and three dimensional pace in trigonometry,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell would have not been able to complete this book without all of the support that she had around her.
“One day in the future another will be working on their thesis paper and can cite Mitchell’s paper as reference. It usually takes months and lots of research to write a thesis paper,” math teacher Michele Adkison said.
Writing is not just about having a pen and paper and writing what comes to mind, it’s about being able to express yourself through writing.
“If I could give anyone advice that wants to start a book it would definitely be that they shouldn’t rush, just take your time and enjoy the process,” Mitchell said.
