The lights on the stage focus on the body of the person standing there, waiting for the moment they will be able to perform. Voices are paused and breaths are held in the audience, the silence waiting to be broken. This is the scene that many will find themselves with on Monday, October 7th, at 6 p.m. The Willis High School talent show is kicking off with various performances lined up.
There are many things to look forward to for performers and audience members. No matter why somebody is coming, there will be something fun in store for them.
“I’m looking forward to my performance as well as my friend’s because they have similar concepts,” senior Zisel Braza said. “Honestly though, my performance is dedicated to someone close to me and I hope they enjoy my little serenade to them.”
The show isn’t just about enjoying people’s talents though. It acts as a fundraiser for the current graduating class, going towards the Winter Ball and other events.
“It is an amazing opportunity to see your peers do things they like and support the school as well,” class of 2025 sponsor Kelly Hardin said. “I was blown away by some of the performances during the recent rehearsal, and I think it will be an amazing show.”
While the show is the main attraction there will be a special addition. A special performance will happen as the crowd and contestants await the judge’s decisions.
“We will be able to enjoy a performance from Alexis McLaughlin, a music teacher at Cannan and a former contestant from The Voice, season 22,” Hardin said. “All the teachers were captivated by her singing at our convocation, and we’re grateful she’s joining us to support our students.”
