The Powerlifting program traveled to the Oak Ridge Invitational last weekend and made their coaches proud.
The team will host their .own tournament Saturday.
Being surrounded by support is crucial to falling in love with a sport.
“Encouragement from my teammates and coaches leads me to be stronger mentally and physically,” junior Carley Dorough said. “I joined powerlifting because a coach told me I would succeed in my weight class.”
The sensation that comes to athletes when powerlifting is motivation to keep pushing.
“My favorite part of the meet was making everyone proud and being cheered for,” sophomore Tatum Authement said. “I am in powerlifting because I enjoy it, and it feels good to win.”
Personal growth and development will be found within the powerlifting environment.
“Powerlifting is not just about lifting weights,” junior Madison Morgan said. “It’s about lifting yourself to new heights, finding strength in every challenge, and discovering inner power. I decided to join powerlifting because I needed a sport that would be healthier for me mentally.”
The powerlifting program has a family-like atmosphere.
“This is my second year doing powerlifting, and I do it because it is the sport I enjoy most,” sophomore Taylor Siegfried said. “It is easy to turn to powerlifting because the environment is friendly and like a family.”
Powerlifting is a sport that reveals one’s efforts and hard work.
“The competition had fewer people compared to last year,” senior Christian Hall said. “I enjoy powerlifting, and I fell in love with the sport because it is an individual sport, meaning there are no excuses. I hold myself accountable by putting in the correct amount of work to beat embarrassment.”
