After a successful District 4 Competition in January, 11 DECA members are preparing for their state competition in Dallas on March 7.
This competition represents a pivotal opportunity for students engaged in business and marketing education. As part of the broader DECA framework, this competition allows participants to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios, thereby enhancing their skills and preparing them for future career challenges.
Katelyn Teague, a second year competitor, emphasizes the importance of perspective when approaching competitions.
“A strong performance isn’t always a reflection of skill,” Teague said. “The relative nature of success is different in a highly competitive environment.”
Congratulation to the following DECA members for this achievement: Paris Egbert in Principles of Hospitality & Tourism, Brianna Fuerte in Marketing Communication, Odalys Garay in Principles of Entrepreneurship, Anthony Garcia in Retail Merchandising Series, Melissa Guerrero in Business Services Marketing Series, Daphne Henson in Principles of Hospitality & Tourism, Ethan Lopez in Principles of Marketing, Molly McCollum in Sports & Entertainment Marketing Series, Vanessa Ruiz in Principles of Business Management & Administration, Katelyn Teague in Business Finance Series Event and Lillianna Weeks In Food Marketing Series.
This will be the 3rd and final year that seniors Melissa Guerrero has advanced to state with DECA. Guerrero, now in her senior year, believes connections not only enhance the competitive experience but also contribute to personal development by encouraging collaboration and support among students.
“I have forged lasting friendships during DECA competition in her junior year,” Guerrero said. “These events foster networking opportunities and camaraderie among my peers.”
