Friday morning, as students arrived at the event, the sun was just beginning to rise and created a beautiful scenic setting.
The senior class celebrated the start of the new school year with its annual Senior Sunrise event on August 15th. Beginning bright and early at 6:45 a.m., students gathered to watch the sunrise over the school campus, marking a special moment to kick off their final year of high school.
“My favorite part of the senior sunrise was sharing one last first moment with my best friends before we started the final days of our last year.” senior Chloe Denna said.
Attendees had the option to enjoy breakfast tacos. While most students appreciated the food, some students noted options were limited and offered little variety.
“They could’ve made better breakfast like scrambled eggs, bacon sausages and biscuits so people can have a better choice for what they want for breakfast rather than something that is already made for them,” senior Jacob Elliott said. “They simply served us a school taco along with salsa and green sauce.”
Seniors were also given the option to purchase a T-Shirt with a simple yet trendy Sunrise design for $20 online or $25 at the event. The shirts were vastly appreciated and worn by many students allowing seniors to feel comfortable and included.
“I liked the shirts the most.” senior Amy Roberts said.
A highlight of the morning was taking a group photo of students to commemorate the occasion. Many students brought props and posters to capture the moment, as well as take pictures with friends.
“I thought senior sunrise was super fun, and I enjoyed getting to see my friends that I do not have class with.” senior Ben Ben Tran noted.
After seniors finished breakfast and pictures, they were sent back to class when the bell rang for first period. Some students believed the time was cut short and weren’t given enough time to complete desired activities.
“I think it could have been longer because I felt like it was really cut short at the end.” senior Hayden Holmes said.
While some things could have been tweaked, overall, the senior class of 2026 enjoyed watching the sunrise with their peers, and creating memories.
“I thought it was a fun event to kick off the year, and it was nice to see the sunrise with my friends.” senior Taylor Arrieta said.
