Stadium lights flash on.
Bleachers begin to flood.
Get ready.
These Wildkats are ready to roar.
The Pitkru will have their debut this Friday at the first football game of the season.
Pitkru is a group of students who attend football games and display school spirit by painting their bodies and banging on trash cans to increase the interaction among the crowd.
“Pitkru is inspiring and fun,” junior Brittan French said. “It is fun to see all the people come out and support our school under Friday Night Lights.”
Being part of this group can enable students to form new relationships and develop long-lasting friendships.
“Pit Kru is an amazing place to be,” senior Emma Haynes said. “It is a time to make new friends and have fun.”
To demonstrate their immense school spirit, members of this group stand in front of the student section, leading them in yelling cheers as the ball runs up and down the field.
“Pit Kru allows you to show your energy and spirit on the field,” senior Aiden Morse said, “It is a good opportunity to pump up the crowd and paint yourself and spread positivity.”
The group had a meeting this week to prepare and decorated footballs by painting and writing on them to be slung into the crowd.
“One of our main goals this year is to have more interaction with the crowd and community,” PitKru sponsor Chris Slovak said. “We are going to sling shot football and purple beads into the crowd. Our number one main goal will be to make the most noise possible to show love for the Kats.
This crew expands the horizon of being involved within the community, but also serves as an outlet to establish unforgettable bonds.
“Pitkru is one of those clubs you join for the friends and spirit and knowing that you are helping your team,” sophomore Peggy Freeman said. “Sophomores, juniors, and seniors should join because it is more fun to watch the game from the pits.”
