Often at contemporary breakfast, one might see muffins. At a kids birthday party, the most common dessert is cupcakes. A muffin looks like a cupcake, but without the frosting. The question that roams around is a muffin of a off brand cupcake or a cupcake a name brand muffin?

A muffin is a small cake, a quick bread, and is often eaten for breakfast, but it is considered a dessert as well. There are many different flavors for a muffin. It can contain blueberries or chocolate. A muffin doesn’t contain any frosting, but it is perfectly sweet and delicious just the way it is. A muffin can be described as a little more healthier than a cupcake.

Muffins are more chewy and not as sweet as a cupcake. A cupcake is more fine and has a lighter taste than a muffin. Often one can have blueberries, chocolate chips, or fruit in a muffin. Whereas, a cupcake doesn’t typically have filling inside.

A cupcake is also a small cake baked in a thin paper iced with frosting and sometimes topped with sprinkles. A cupcake is usually eaten as a dessert. Also it can have many different flavors.

Cupcakes are made by creaming the butter and sugar together to get a creamy and fluffy batter. While for muffins the batter is beaten and it remains lumpy.

Both a muffin and cupcake is considered a small cake meant for a single individual. Both may have a thin paper wrapped around, but sometimes the muffin may not.
