Starting Thursday, students have another option for catching up on news around campus and spotting pictures of their best friend dressed for Rival Week. The Voice of the Wildkats now offers online content at wildkats.org.

“It has always been something I wanted to do with my newspaper staff,” adviser Emily Meachen said. “I was just so excited we were able to secure a domain name that was so easy to remember.”

At the end of last year newspaper editor junior Kelsey Soape began making plans for this year. She knew she wanted to do more. The plans for the online coverage began then.

“I wanted the staff to work more and cover more of what is going on,” Soape said. “The website looks awesome. I am so excited about what we are going to accomplish this year.”

The print version of the the newspaper has received many accolades for writing, photography and layout. Last year the newspaper was awarded an Award of Distinguished Merit from the Interscholastic League Press Conference. The new mode of delivering news will open up more opportunities for recognition.

“By adding online stories and content, there will be more opportunities for our newspaper and students to win awards,” Meachen said. “We are not stopping the print newspapers. We will just change the content to more features.”
