Football season is starting up, and with that, so is planning for Homecoming. There are so many things that go into Homecoming, including the game, the dance, the parade, dress-up days, pep rallies and more. In an attempt to make everything a little less complicated, here is a comprehensive guide of everything to know about the 2024 Homecoming, in chronological order.
The homecoming parade, as well as Light Up The Kats, is happening on September 25th. The event starts at 5:30 pm near Yates Stadium and is free to attend, it is recommended that people bring bags for candy.
The homecoming game is on September 27th, and tickets are available on the “Hometown Fan” app or online at Hometown Fan for $8. The Pep Rally will also be that Friday, details and a sign-up form will be emailed to WHS students.
The homecoming dance will be on September 28th from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are available online only for $40 here. If a non-WHS student is attending as a plus one, there is a guest form on the website that students must fill out, and it would also be smart to bring a form of ID to the dance as well. Students will not be given a hard ticket to the dance and instead will be added to the list of attendees.
One of the little details that go into the festivities of homecoming is the themes, this year, the overarching theme is “Game On WIldkats”. For the school week, the daily themes go as follows: Monday- Cranium (nerd day), Tuesday- Candyland (Pajama day), Wednesday- Guess Who (Twin day), Thursday- Twister (mix match day), Friday- Battleship (class colors/ senior overalls). The theme at the parade, game, and dance will all be “Game On” in general.
Many students are already campaigning for homecoming king and queen. Any students who wish to vote should look out for an email in the next few weeks.
