With Halloween falling on a school night this year, students aren’t afraid of the ghouls and ghosts that come out at night, but of a lack of activities for them to do. Luckily, theater hosts a haunted house where all the things that go bump in the night are cooped up in our performing arts center for student’s entertainment. Spooky-spectacular special effects and a night of fright are just the start of what students can expect at the annual Haunted House on October 30 and 31.
These projects inspire student actors to push their creative limits and find the tools to frighten their peers.
“It lets students create little productions and step into fear,” theater teacher Ms. Matlock said. “It’s just a fun way to do a fundraiser that lets students act and create and do technical fun stuff, and every student who attends this year should expect a bit of terror.”
But it’s so much more than cheap thrills, it gives back to one of many programs at our school.
“It’s an event that theater does every year and it helps fund our program,” sophomore Haley Tatum said. “It helps us get things like costumes, props, and new materials for sets.”
Guest shouldn’t come prepared to be petrified beyond their imagination, but theater definitely knows how to set a scene that’s sure to make you scream.
“Our lighting and our effects are pretty good for our department and it’ll definitely be an out-of-the-ordinary experience,” senior Aiden Hamilton said. “It’s a little creepy but we’re not going to scare the pants off of you, so bring your friends and bring your family, everyone’s invited.”
Even if students think the PAC won’t have what it takes to knock their socks off, they will still leave feeling good about being scared.
“I think people should go for the fun experience,” senior Gracie Saucedo said. “It’s not every day that you can go to the PAC and have a fun time getting scared by people that you know.”
