Full of eager tails wagging, DECA’s Dog Adoption event with the Montgomery County Animal Shelter aims to bring new families together one pup at a time. With a large supply of dogs in need, the event hosted in the 830 parking lot this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with all community members encouraged to find their newest family member.
Overrun shelters struggle every day to find homes for their best pet candidates, a task DECA is encouraging the local community to assist with. DECA has set forth a goal for the upcoming year to be more involved with community outreach opportunities, the Dog Adoption only being one of many.
“I’m super excited about this collaboration because who doesn’t want to help dogs find their forever home,” junior Zoe Mendes said. “Plus, we are raising awareness for the foster programs that are happening down at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.”
The Montgomery County Animal Shelter is one of the only shelters in the area, resulting in major overcrowding regularly for the organization.
“You are always hearing about how overcrowded the animal shelters are so we thought what a better way to give back to the community than to relieve the shelter and make some families happy in the process,” DECA advisor Tommy Reed said. “I would encourage all community members to stop by and check out the pets and learn about pet fostering too.”
The Dog Adoption event is offering a great opportunity for a large group of dogs in the local area to find a home outside the shelter this weekend.
“I’m super excited about this collaboration because who doesn’t want to help dogs find their forever home,” Mendes said. “We hope as many dogs as possible will at least be able to have a minute out of the cages in a loving home.”
