Aggie, Gator or Panther?
Over the span of three days sophomore Jamal Lagway received three D1 offers from two highly ranked SEC schools and one in the Sunbelt conference. These offers include Texas A&M, Georgia State, and his brother’s very own Florida.
Years of hard work and dedication have brought Lagway to a moment most players only dream about. receiving college offers is usually reserved for seniors and some juniors.
“It feels great,” Lagway said. “I’ve dreamt of this my entire life. Having a chance to play division 1 football is what I have always wanted.”
The work speaks for itself, and the people closest to him have seen it since the beginning.
“Lil Mal’s just out there putting in work and it’s always been showing,” senior Jaivion Martin said. “They finally starting to catch on and see he is a baller.”
That same work ethic is what keeps him hungry and sets him apart from the rest.
“Jamal’s just a dog,” sophomore Darius Jones said. “Having that type of grind and grit at this age shows what he’s capable of at the next level”
Getting offers from highly ranked SEC schools has Lagway fired up.
“It was awesome,” Lagway said. “It just makes me want to keep working so I can keep getting better and get more big offers.”
Although Georgia State isn’t as big of an offer, Lagway is still very appreciative and competitive of each coach who takes the time to watch him and make any kind of offer at this point in his high school career.
“Any offer would be an opportunity for me to show my capabilities,” he said, “Wherever I go, I am going to compete at the highest level and earn a starting spot.”
Jamal’s older brother, DJ, is happy to see his brother improve and gain offers from D1 colleges.
“Awesome to see my little brother get offers from these big time programs,” sophomore Florida quarterback DJ Lagway said. “I’m excited to see him continue to get better.”
