Barnes & Noble coming to area in May 2024

COMING SOON. A screenshot of barnesandnoble.com shows off the good news. May 2024 is slated as the opening date of the new bookstore in serving the growing Conroe and Willis population.

For years, the bookworms of the Willis/Conroe area have had to make a 20-30 minute drive along the highway just to go to a Barnes & Noble. Soon, that is all going to change. A new Barnes & Noble location is being added in Conroe, at what was previously a Bed Bath & Beyond in the shopping center along the N Fwy Service Road.

People are ecstatic that they’ll no longer have to make the long drive to the Woodlands mall just to go to a Barnes & Noble location.

“I think it’s a really good addition to our community,” sophomore Avalon Baretto said. “Now I won’t have to drive all the way to the Woodlands just to have the bookstore experience.”

Although we already have many bookstores and book selections available to us in the area such as 2nd & Charles or the public libraries, Barnes & Noble has proven to be a fan favorite.

“I do love Target but I sometimes wish they had a bigger book collection for me to scan through,” junior Avery Ruiz said. “I understand that this Barnes & Noble will take business away from 2nd & Charles, but the area over there is mega traffic-y. I would feel more comfortable and relaxed driving to the new location of Barnes & Noble.”

Barnes & Noble is primarily a bookstore, but books are not all they’re limited to. This store is for more than just the book-lovers crowd.

“Barnes & Noble does have a wide selection of some of my favorite novels, but they also have a big section of figures and games that I enjoy looking at,” sophomore Brianna Williams said.

A new Barnes & Noble closer to home will surely be a nice addition to this area for many people.

“A new Barnes & Noble will definitely be contributing to decreasing my stress levels,” Ruiz said. “Also, who doesn’t love a good bookstore?”
