READY FOR NEXT YEAR. The new school calendar includes a full week in October and November for students.

The school board released the calendar for the 2024-2025 school year.

The calendar shares many similarities from the past year’s calendar with a few important changes.

“I think the calendar looks pretty much the same as it did this past year,” sophomore Katelyn Davies said. “I’m not mad about it. I am happy they added a full week instead of only three days for fall break in October though. It’s a great time to just simply reset and not have to worry about school.”

For many students, adding the full week in October is the ideal scenario.

“I am so excited to have a full week in October,” sophomore Annabelle Smith-Grimm said. “Even though I will still have to come to school for Sweethearts, it is still nice not being assigned homework everyday.”

Students don’t just look forward to holidays. Even just a few hours off bring students joy throughout the year.

“I think there are not enough early release days,” freshman Wyatt Richie said. “I enjoyed having a few every month, they gave me something to look forward to each week.”

Starting in the middle of August allows students to enjoy those last few days of summer.

“It is nice to see that we’re starting school on the 14th,” junior Jasmyna Joyner said. “ I remember our freshman year we had to start on the 10th, which was terrible. This year we got lucky by starting the 16th, and it is good to see that they are keeping the start around the same time.”
