COSMETOLOGIST CERTIFIED. Devin Abernathy was the first junior to become a licensed salon professional. Six other Wildkats have also be able to acquire their cosmetology license this year.

The future is unknown.

With the establishment of the CTE center years prior, students are now able to experiment and learn about potential career paths that they want to pursue once they graduate. The plans for the future are undecided by most students and with the vast amounts of classes from agriculture to videographing, students are able to have plans for a future career.

By spending lots of time studying and focusing on the career lessons provided, some students were able to acquire a certificate that will help them right into a career after high school.

“I went through three years of cosmetology starting my freshman year,” junior Devin Abernathy. “It was definitely tough but Mrs.Hernandez and Mrs.Berrigan are great teachers and always tried to make it easier.”

With some students being guided with a teacher with tutorials on what to do, some students went through different programs.

“To get my veterinary certification I had to complete a number of courses and assessments in the ICEV platform to prepare to take the certification exam,” junior Kennedy Pinard said.

As with some students, they believed it was a walk in the park to get this certification.

“It was honestly not that much work,” senior Daniel Gomez said. “Just a bit of studying and some effort. Also just a tad bit of Redbull.”

Now having these certifications, students plan to take a step further and do something with it after high school.

“My plan for the future is to focus on men’s haircuts,” Abernathy said. “My favorite aspect was definitely learning all the different things that you can do with a cosmetology license, all the people I met, and going on field trips seeing how many opportunities I have with this license.”

Others also want to take this certification as a career.

“It has been a dream and a potential job to be a veterinarian since I can remember,” Pinard said.
