Yes, it is a film about a monkey. Yes, it is a horror movie.

Yes, that sentence is correct; no, it was NOT an error. The Monkey is a horror/comedy about a cursed demonic monkey that kills its victims randomly, through its musical mechanics. The movie is rated as a horror movie, not a comedy. But the movie is funny in some bits.

Imagine this. You are spending time with your brother (who hates you a lot for some reason) and you try to find out more about your dad who mysteriously disappeared a couple of years ago. While looking in his closet, you find a “life-like” grinder monkey. You decide to pull out the monkey and wind the key up, only to realize something far more sinister is going on. You quickly realize that the monkey is responsible for the recent murders in your town every time you wind the key up. You then quickly realize that the monkey is some sort of demonic toy possessed by godly powers, which torment anyone at large. You and your brother then quickly decide that throwing it away is the right choice, right? Wrong. This would give way to satanic cults that worship the monkey, and even a betrayal from someone you would have never expected.

The movie was not that bad, it was just unevenly paced. It was a little bit funny in the sense that it was not really much of a horror movie. The acting was not bad, just generic. Again, it was just to fast paced and not enough action was put into it. I give it a six out of ten stars.
